Teisen Taffi -- Toffee Tart From Rona Milner's Ninnau column. Sweet Pastry:
Filling:
Heat oven to 425°F. and grease a pie-plate or oven proof dinner plate. Combine the flour, shortening, sugar, and salt. Mix to a soft dough with the milk. Roll out and line pie-plate. Flute the edges. Cover with minced or finely chopped dates and drizzle the syrup over them. Sprinkle with rolled oats and dot with margarine or butter. Bake in the hot oven for 30 minutes. Cool on rack.
